Legal notices

Legal disclaimer

Please read these notices carefully. They govern your use of this website and your relationship — or lack of one — with Privello LLC and Patrick Smith.

A consultancy, not a law firm

Privello LLC is a data-privacy consultancy. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal representation. Its founder, Patrick Smith, is an attorney licensed in the State of Texas, United States; through Privello LLC he provides data-privacy consulting, not the practice of law. Engaging Privello does not retain a lawyer or a law firm.

Scope of services

Privello advises Swiss companies on operational compliance with the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP), on alignment with the GDPR where it also applies, and on the Swiss–U.S. transfer regime — including the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, SCC-equivalent clauses, and transfer assessments. Where a matter requires formal legal advice, a legal opinion, or representation before a court or authority — whether under U.S. law or Swiss law — Privello does not provide that itself and will recommend that you engage qualified counsel in the relevant jurisdiction.

Professional credentials

Privello's founder, Patrick Smith, is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), a certification issued by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and an attorney licensed in the State of Texas, United States. These credentials are held by him personally; they are not an accreditation of Privello LLC, are not an endorsement by any regulator or supervisory authority — including the FDPIC — and do not guarantee any particular outcome. References to the revFADP, the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the GDPR, Standard Contractual Clauses, or any other legal framework describe areas of work — not endorsements or guarantees.

Not legal advice

Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice, and nothing Privello provides in a consulting engagement is a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney in the relevant jurisdiction. The information here is general in nature, may not reflect the most current developments, and may not apply to your specific facts. You should not act or refrain from acting on the basis of anything on this site without seeking advice from a qualified professional about your particular situation.

No attorney–client relationship

Viewing this website, contacting Privello, or submitting information through the contact form does not create an attorney–client relationship, and no such relationship is formed by engaging Privello for consulting. Communications with Privello are not protected by the attorney–client privilege. Until a written consulting agreement is in place, please do not send confidential or sensitive information.

No guarantee of results

Prior engagements do not guarantee a similar outcome. Every organization's data-processing environment is different, and the result of any compliance effort depends on its own facts and circumstances.

Summary: Privello LLC is a data-privacy consultancy, not a law firm.
